Honestly, this was the best hotel experiences we have had yet on our travels. Yes, this was on the upper end budget, but so worth it on every level. This hotel has 128 sensational rooms with a multitude of options to choose from, incredible breakfasts at their Brassiere, sensational cocktails at their bar noir & delicious sushi from their own restaurant Jin Gui.

Our favourite Restaurants

When visiting Hamburg and most German cities, you are likely to be exposed to an incredible array of dining options, representing various nationalities, flavours & styles. It truly is a phenomenal city for foodies, no matter where you are from in the world.

Restaurants, Cocktail bars and a coffee spot you have to visit:

  1. Cardamom: HANDS DOWN THE BEST Indian food we have ever eaten, anywhere in the world. It was truly sensational. A family run business, newly opened, serving authentic Indian food, with levels of flavour that we have never experienced before. We would highly recommend the Cardamom spritz, the prawn & mango curry and the trufflw malai curry with lamb.

  2. Jin Gui: This is a pan Asian restaurant (which is also part of the Hotel) was absolutely delightful. Serving the freshest, most flavoursome sushi and cocktails all in an elegant cosy environment. We would highly recommend the mango chilli martini.

  3. Edmondo: One of the greatest Italian meals we’ve had! 1 of 3 sister restaurants in Germany with the other two in Berlin & Munich. They serve “100% HOMEMADE FOOD, 70% OF OUR MENU ARE VEGETARIAN DISHES FRESH & PRODUCTS DIRECTLY FROM ITALY FROM SMALL PRODUCERS”. Do yourself and make a reservation. This was a delightful experience from beginning to end.

  4. 60 Seconds to Napoli: Another Italian, yes, but a very different experience from Edmondo. Located in the city center, this Italian serves freshly made pizzas with passion along with classic German beer. A perfect spot for lunch, when you are hungry and in need for respite from the freezing December air.

  5. Marshall street coffee: A perfect spot for a delightful breakfast & of course coffee. If they have their Colombian coffee, request this as a pour over and drink it black. It’ll be a coffee you’ll never forget. We regret not buying a bag to take home.

  6. Ba Nomu: Cocktails to another level. Situated in the city center, this cocktail bar is sensational offering an amzing array of cocktails.

  7. Planten Coffee: Sure to be one of if not the best coffee you’ll drink in Hamburg. Coffee served by the most delightful staff, and just a stones throw from the Planten un Blomen gardens, we would highly suggest popping in for an espresso or ‘black batch brew of the Colombian’. They’ll know exactly what you mean.

A little bit about this fascinating city

Hamburg, one of Germany's most vibrant and bustling cities, holds a rich history that stretches back over a millennium. Situated on the banks of the River Elbe, this cosmopolitan metropolis has evolved into an economic powerhouse and a cultural hub.
Hamburg's journey has not always been smooth sailing. The devastating Great Fire of 1842 destroyed a significant part of the city, leading to extensive rebuilding efforts. Additionally, World War II inflicted severe damage upon Hamburg, leaving much of it in ruins during the Allied bombings. Nevertheless, the city's resilience and determination to rebuild triumphed, allowing it to emerge stronger and more modern than ever before.
In recent decades, Hamburg has established itself as an international hub of innovation, education, and entertainment. It serves as a vital industrial and economic center, with diverse industries such as shipping, aerospace, and renewable energy leading the way. Furthermore, the city takes pride in its rich cultural scene, boasting world-class theaters, music venues, and museums that attract people from around the globe.
Hamburg's allure goes beyond its economic significance. The city's unique charm lies in its picturesque harbor, historic buildings, and the friendly spirit of its inhabitants. The vibrant nightlife, stunning parks, and picturesque canals add to the city's undeniable magnetism, attracting millions of visitors each year.
As we stand in the present, Hamburg stands as a testament to the resilience of its people and their ability to adapt to a changing world. The city's journey from a fortified outpost to a thriving metropolis is a testament to human ambition, innovation, and the enduring relevance of international trade.
